Fotos once again: Courtesy of TEDxVienna.

  • Hat geklappt. Danke! RT @TEDxVienna: @wiblatt steckdosen kommen…

Karim El-Gawhary:

  • Change of plan: Karim El-Gawhary (@gawhary) wird jetzt live zugeschaltet
  • „The new Arab world is created between Tunesia and the Suez Canal. “ sagt @gawhary via Skype
  • „Media tends to look at events like Tahrir. The interesting thing is what happens left and right of that“
  • „We can learn a form of resistance from the Arab world. If you can organize enough people you can change things.“
  • „Getting rid of a dictator is the starting point of a process , not the end of a process. It’s like scoring an important goal in the first 2 minutes of a football game. The fight is far from over.“
Are they ready for democracy?“
  • RT @thomasseifert: @Gawhary says what mobilized people was TV. Role of social media is exaggerated.

Christopher Gruber:

  • Next: Christopher Gruber on guitar

Adora Svitak:

  • Jetzt: pre-recorded TED-Talk by Adora Svitak http://bit.ly/9UHEup

Roman Braun:

  • Jetzt: The Non-Trivial Side Of Happiness – Vortrag von Roman Braun
  • Mein Sitznachbar schreibt mit – via „live mindmapping“! Check out: bit.ly/p2Sk8B (via @mindmeister) #coolstuff
  • Roman Braun über den Unterschied zwischen „pain“ und „suffering“: „Suffering is pain without purpose“
  • Das Gegenteil (nach Frankl): „Pain with a purpose … that’s surrender!“
  • Roman Braun fragt: „Is there pleasure without purpose – just like there is pain without purpose?“
  • Roman Braun: Durchschnittliches Kind lacht 400 Mal am Tag. Durchschnitticher Erwachsener 12 Mal. Wo ist der Rest hingekommen?
  • Fazit: pleasure without purpose = distraction. pleasure with purpose = joy.

Kinect Hack:

  • Jetzt: Kurz-Präsentation über #Kinect Hack. Weiß jemand, wie der Sprecher heisst? #changeofschedule

Robert Misik:

  • What does it mean to be a progressive in the 21st century?
  • „Winner-takes-it-all capitalism isn’t just unfair, it is economically ineffective.“ sagt Robert @Misik (via @danimrich)
  • „Fairer distribution of wealth leads to more demand, more economic activity“ sagt @misik #nichtneu
  • „Economic fairness triggers a win-win-scenario while unjust societys are often more unproductive“
  • [nk] Ich kann ihm nicht mehr folgen. Gebe w.o.

Florian Brody:

  • Up next: Florian Brody „Digital Media as Memory Places“
  • Brody beginnt mit klassischem Cohan Zitat: „There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in“
  • „I’m not so much concerned about the worries of a new medium but about the potential of a new medium.“
  • „Our knowledge, our history is the written word. That’s why so many people are concerned about electronic publishing.“
  • „So we enter in a new era that in 200 years is history-free… BECAUSE THERE ARE NO ARTEFACTS“
  • „But history is not about the stuff, it is about the stories, about the ability to tell stories. –> we are JUST beginning to learn how to tell stories with the new media. How do we go from old media to new media? We have to accept that it takes some time to understand how we manage our content.“
  • „Ultimately EVERY media is a SOCIAL media“ sagt Brody und bringt Oper und Volksempfänger als Beispiel.
  • „Evolution, whether it’s social whether it’s educational, always depends on a historic tradition. So how do you build an intelligent bridge?“ fragt Brody, „By trying to apply old models you get nowhere.“
  • Brody empfiehlt ein österreichisches Start-Up: finderly.com
